Adv. Akshata Tandon Menezes Raises Alarm Over Cruelty to Dog at Juhu Circle

Late on a quiet evening at Juhu Circle, a disturbing scene caught the attention of animal welfare advocate and Co-founder of the RyAksha Foundation, Adv. Akshata Tandon Menezes. At approximately 10:45 PM, she witnessed an autorickshaw driver recklessly transporting his dog perched precariously on the roof of his moving vehicle.

In her account, Menezes described the moment as both shocking and cruel, underscoring the grave danger posed to the animal. When she approached the driver and urged him to bring the dog down, he reportedly refused, leading to a tense exchange.

It was only after the intervention of concerned bystanders, who gathered in support of Menezes’ plea, that the driver reluctantly agreed to remove the dog from the roof.

“This kind of behavior cannot be ignored,” Menezes stressed, calling on the public to remain vigilant and report such instances of animal endangerment. She also appealed to authorities, including Mumbai Police and animal rights organisations, to take swift action to prevent similar incidents and safeguard vulnerable animals from harm.

By tagging prominent figures and advocacy groups such as @petaindia, @adityathackeray, and @mncdfbombay, Menezes amplified her call for accountability, making it clear that protecting voiceless beings requires both community awareness and institutional enforcement.

The RyAksha Foundation, known for its work in social and animal welfare, continues to champion the belief that compassion should never be compromised not for convenience, and certainly not for spectacle.
