On 21st September 2024, the shores of Carter Beach and the surrounding mangroves came alive with a powerful movement for the planet. Marking International Coastal Cleanup Day, over 1,600 enthusiastic volunteers from 20 different colleges joined hands to restore and protect our coastline.
The event was a true example of what can be achieved when communities, organisations, and individuals unite for a common cause. Volunteers worked tirelessly under the sun, removing litter, segregating waste, and making a visible difference to the beach and mangrove ecosystem. Every bag filled was a reminder that small acts, when multiplied, create meaningful change.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Rotary Club of Bandra and Rotary Vibrant 3141 for their invaluable support, and a special kudos to Team Mithibai Finanza for their unwavering commitment to environmental action. The RyAksha Foundation played a vital role with their unconditional support, adding strength and energy to the initiative.
This cleanup was made possible through the collaboration of passionate organisations including PPA India, Swachha Vasundhara Abhiyaan, Rotary Club of Bandra, MNCD Mumbai, Maha Forest Official, and the Mangrove Foundation, along with dedicated collaborators such as BSG India, NMFC, Drop Tee Shirt, Connecting NSS, and many more.
Led by Rushikadav Ve, Co-Convenor of PPA India, with the legal guidance of Adv. Trivankumar Karnani, Chief Legal Officer of PPA India, and the unwavering vision of Saakshi Teck, Founder of PPA India, the event not only cleared waste but also strengthened the bond between people and nature.
As the waves continue to meet the shore, we are reminded that our efforts must be constant. Together, we can ensure cleaner beaches, healthier mangroves, and a brighter future for our planet.
Hereβs to turning the tide for a cleaner, greener Earth. πβ¨
